Even though BMW basically started the trend of high performance SUVs, they have been losing ground against their rivals. Currently the X5 and X6 are still some of the best on the market. However, BMW still doesn’t have a seven seats model to compete with the Q7 or the Mercedes GLS.

I hope the X7 isn't just an extended X5 - that would be totally silly.

But maybe the reason why no one has seen anything is because BMW is developing a new SUV platform for both the X7 & a large ultra-luxurious Rolls-Royce SUV (to slot b/t the Ghost & Phantom). The long-azz delay with the X7 would make sense if the platform development includes both of these highly-anticipated vehicles.

I think the rumored X7 is really interesting b/c of the long-awaited Jeep Grand Wagoneer, a rumored large Chrysler SUV, & possibly a large Cadillac CUV, thats not called Escalade.
