2018 Cadillac XT3 – The newest luxury crossover coming soon! The biggest competitor of Audi Q3.
The CT6 and XT5 are Cadillac’s two first cars to use the all-new naming scheme. While many expected the CT5 to follow them, it seems that it is no longer true. Instead, the upcoming model will most likely be the 2018 Cadillac XT3. The car has been rumored for the past several years, and it was expected to be launched back in 2015.

However, Cadillac changed their plans a while ago, and the new model should be out by the end of 2017. Many official details are still unknown, but the car will most definitely be made. How are we so sure? Well, because the market shifted towards crossovers, Cadillac decided to stop developing the CT3 sedan in the favor of the XT3 crossover.

What is significant about this car?

Unlike its larger cars which are all based on rear wheel drive platforms, the XT3 should get the same front-wheel based chassis as the Malibu. This would be smaller than that of its sibling, but it should give them more wiggle room as the smaller platform will also allow for better car-like characteristics. These are very important in a car as small as the upcoming XT3.

Note the linked article doesn't even mention the Audi Q3, or that it's competing against Audi. The only mention it makes of Audi at all is "...some rumors suggested that it may borrow a coupe-like design, something similar to the upcoming Audi Q2..."

I don't picture Audi shoppers to be interchangeable with Cadillac shoppers, so I don't see the alleged competition between this Caddy and the Audi.

De Nysschen's idiocy is playing out. Cadillac makes excellent cars no one wants. They aren't American. They aren't European. They are WRONG for the market.

Audis maintain zero sales leads in any individual car category. No, not even the Q5 which is considered in the same segment as the RX350. Not sure why article-posters here, Agents or not, like to always pimp Audis as the bogies for any new car. Not to mention the Q3 is a mediocre product as evidenced by its poor showing in comparisons.

re "Audis maintain zero sales leads in any individual car category."

FWIW, my understanding is that the Audi Q5 is the most popular vehicle in its class (mid-size luxury SUV) with over 1.5 million examples sold.

Cadillac needs names

Caddy does indeed need names. But I do see cross shoppers of all 4 BMW/MB & Audi with this car. Its going to be that nice. The current Q3 is great looking much more so than the hideous GLA with its buzzy engine and cramped "kids stuff" interior. The X1 is nicer and IMO on par w/the Q3. This CT3 cannot come fast enough and I do predict it will sell well. The Buick Encore came out of no where and is a very big deal. This car will also bring in the folks. I'm w/Matt, I wish they'd separate themselves from the herd and go with names. I hate all this alphanumeric crap...
