2017 Chrysler Pacifica – the minivan you’ve been looking for!
Just when you thought that Chrysler gave up on the minivan segment, the same segment that saved the company nearly three decades ago, they decided to introduce new Pacifica. Destiny, or…? The company decided to revive the almost forgotten nameplate which was back in time associated with a swollen up crossover-like vehicle. Fortunately for all of us pretty much the only thing that 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has with its predecessor is its name.
The minivan segment is going to be revived again, and that is definitely thanks to Pacifica which will directly replace Chrysler’s Town & Country as well as Dodge’s Grand Caravan which is slowly being phased out anyway. With the Pacifica, Chrysler decided not to make a base model at all because the entry level version will be offered with a heap of equipment as well as a hi-tech nine-speed automatic gearbox and a 3.6 L V6 petrol engine.

The Pacifica has been a sales dud. If anything, it more likely to be the next 200/Dart for cancellation.

Actually - Only the Mid-size pick-up segment shows greater increase in sales than Mini-vans - and Only Chrysler and the Kia Sedonna are showing substantial increases in sales. Considering that for most of the year - the older version - the Town And Country - was still available - at reduced prices - the Pacifica is doing well. It is only in the last month that much of the old inventory has finally been moved so the Pacifica sales from now in will show the actual change. However - it is also clear that the Dodge Caravan - which was NOT updated - is leading in sales increases - and now looks like it MIGHT actually get a new version. I highly doubt that FCA will cancel mini-vans - when they plan to use that updated platform for a Dodge SUV and also possibly for a Chrysler 300 replacement as well.
