2020 Mazda RX-9 Will Go Hybrid

Even though 2020 is still a long way ahead, there are already predictions that the RX-9 is going to be a full hybrid. This should not come as a surprise, given current trends, but the successor to the RX-8 is still being developed. Once it comes off the drawing board and rolls off the assembly line, we will know more about this issue.

That is exactly what it should NOT do. It should be a down-to-earth sports car with rotary and piston engine options. They should evoke the original RX7's styling for modern RX7 (rotary) and MX7 (piston) interpretations.

The problem of the GTR and the NSX is how pointless they are for doing anything for their respective brands. The gulf between them and their bland sister models is simply too wide.

An RX/MX7 placed squarely in the Mustang/Camaro price band would be a recipe for success.
