OFFICIAL: Porsche Launches V6 And Long Wheelbase Variants Of The All-New Panamera

Porsche will launch a new engine and new long-wheelbase variants of the Panamera at the upcoming Los Angeles auto show, which will hit UK showrooms early in 2017.

The latest power unit is a turbocharged, 3-litre V6, which will act as an entry point into the Panamera range alongside the more powerful turbocharged 3-litre of the Panamera S, the E-Hybrid, and the eight-cylinder engines of the Panamera 4S Diesel, GTS and Turbo.

Where the Panamera S develops 434bhp the new unit makes 325bhp, still 18bhp more than the previous entry-level Panamera. Porsche also quotes fuel efficiency gains of 13 per cent, resulting in up to 37.7mpg (with the standard eight-speed PDK)...

I'm assuming the LWB is a nod to China. I'm not a fan of the Panamera because the first one was hideous, but it is a great drive. The second one is a lot better resolved by comparison, but I would never want to be the back seat passenger when driving it is the reward. I can't imagine a Panamera as a "limousine" sedan because the suspension is definitely "sport" biased.

The V6 model is a real no-brainer. I hope to heaven that the ignominy of a 2.0T never happens though.

It most likely is. From what I know the Panamera LWB did not do well in the US market.

I found its ride quality to be quite good when in comfort. Certainly not the new S or new 7 but it's good to get the job done and have fun on those night you want to.

I would guess that the 4 cylinder would be a Chinese market vehicle -if it is produced. Lots of bigger western sedans have been fitted that way there.
