#LAAutoShow: TEASED! Mercedes-Maybach Gives Us Just A TASTE Of What's To Come In LA LA Land...
This past weekend, our friends at the three-pointed star decided to reveal something it's been hiding from the world. That's right, an all-new Mercedes-Maybach model will be coming down the 'pike.

This is a bit of a surprise given that no one had the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet being the next Maybach variant to debut. All eyes were on the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class. Well, everyone was wrong.

Good on Mercedes for keeping it under wraps!

Seen in a Mercedes-issued teaser clip, the Maybach S650 is expected to be as fine trimmed as any Mercedes comes. Though the marque remains tight lipped, here's what we're thinking:

1) Given the nomenclature, we're thinking it either gets the S65 AMG's V12 or it gets an enhanced version with, yes, more power.

2) It will receive some unique touches to distinguish it from an already capable lineup of S cabs. That will include special wood trim, unique leather details on the seating and unique alloy wheels.

3) Only 300 to be built on a global basis.

Any other thoughts, Spies? Weigh in after seeing the isolated images from the clip as well as the video, below!

re "...3) Only 300 to be built on a global basis..."

Only 246 to be sold after 2 years, while the rest, lonely, still wait for an owner.

I'm thinking: If you want a Mercedes, you buy a Mercedes and you pay for a Mercedes. If you have crazy money, you talk Bentley or Rolls Royce in this form factor. The 2017 Mercedes S 65 Cabriolet is already prices to be ignored.

So...its a trim package with a big engine.

I guess Mercedes has copied the product-planning strategies of Lexus and FCA.

Is this the equivalent of a "Pebble Beach Edition" Lexus or an Eremegildo Zegna Maserati Quattroporte?

Bill Blass Lincoln Mark V anyone?

Conversely, Mercedes is crazy if the don't soon roll-out a $200,000 GLS650 Maybach - super SUV.

The poseurs will completely ignore how similar it is to a GLS550 or GLS63 - just to have that Maybach badge on the rear.

If Maybach is a trim package - might as well tack it onto the one vehicle line (Luxe SUV's) where people will completely pay up for a badge.

This is a huge and expensive yawner... for this kind of coin can you not make a simply stunningly gorgeous car... this thing is just stupid...
