#LAAUTOSHOW: If Audi DARED To Make Anything Close To This STUDENT Concept Would They OWN The Segment?
The first day of the LA Auto Show is tomorrow and there is plenty of news and debuts to cover, but we aren’t even at day one and we have over 450 images already in our EXCLUSIVE La Auto Show Gallery.  Many of these are exclusive images are from the floor the day before everyone else even starts to check in.   Needless to say our operatives have been hard at work, and will continue to give you exclusive access with images the competition can only hope for.

Sure other sites will have press shots and over exposed images, but we give you the right shots that show you the details you want to see in vivid detail from every auto maker and more.  We learned a long time ago that visiting the obscure corners of the hall we can uncover gems.

A case in point is this stunning student designed 4 door cabriolet in Audi trim!

After looking at this one in detail, we would easily say that if Audi built anything close to this, it would be a run away hit and simply own the segment.

Simply stunning!

What segment are we talking about? (1) A Mouth That Mimics A Whale Shark? (2) A Maw Worse Than Lexus? (3) Wheels Found On Top Of A Christmas Tree? The dude needs to stay in school. For a long time. Or work at Tire Rack.

Sorry Bob - but Dexter NEVER said he could do better - but Styling is an individual thing and he has the right not to like the styling of that car - even if a student styled it. Your comments about HIS capabilities are not relevant.

I do not like the front of the car either - although the rest is actually quite nice - and I am also not a car stylist. The problem for me is not knowing the size of the car makes it hard to point to a particular "segment" - which was the question. Also - even if I did - unless this car can be produced in many forms - a 4 place convertible would either not be profitable on its own - or it would have to be priced in the "exotic" category. If the latter was the case - then if would have competition from Ferrari and Lambo and others that have more Exclusivity - which AUDI would never be able to supply. ALong with the current Audi emissions problems - I don't believe it would actually own ANY segment - and THAT was the question asken by Agent 009.

I like it overall, side profile is very nice, rear is excellent, front could use some additional refinement. B+

From a design perspective, it's, well, interesting, certainly. But nothing really jumps out at me. However, I've seen other students' work in the past, and this one is definitely a step above. I think this student has a good eye for proportion and effect. Maybe it's the finer details (like the mouth) that needs refinement to make it a complete package.

Regarding "segment", that is a good question. If Audi built this, I do think it would be the only 4-place convertible where you can be taller than 4ft to fit in the back seats, so it would, in effect, create its own segment.

That's a pretty slick concept. Kinda like the Cadillac Ciel concept - progressive, forward-looking.

If Audi could make that, what platform should they use? The A7 or A8 or something shared with another VW subsid.

The front looks like the daft punk helmet
