#LAAUTOSHOW : First REAL LIFE Shots Of Jaguar's Sexy Electric I-Pace SUV! Is This The REAL DEAL?
Ok, I will be the first to say that sometimes press shots lie. They take the perfect angle and lighting to give you one impression that simply falls apart in real life. However I do know for a fact that Jaguar spends countless hours perfecting their styling so it looks good in all light no matter how it falls on the vehicle. Basically what you see is what you get from any angle.
To prove the point just take a look at these first REAL LIFE shots of the Jaguar I-Pace electric SUV. Note just how perfectly the light hits the contours, and how every design element has been given the upmost scrutiny and is simply perfect. This isn’t just a well thought out design exercise, you might want to classify it as art in the truest sense.
If this baby makes it to production in this form then the Germans will be scrambling to keep up, and the Japanese…. well they probably won’t understand how something this beautiful could make it through a design committee. And that might just be the point, the creativity wasn’t stifled by a committee.

Gorgeous, but DO NOT water it down for production.

In person - this car looked good from the front and sides but the back of the car was not that interesting. IF it was a gas powered vehicle - I would be interested - but as an EV - I am not for myself. My driving is still not compatible with EVs.

While I really like to I-Pace concept, I seriously doubt the production version will retain the current form. The Cd of 0.29 is respectable for a SUV/CUV (the F-Pace has 0.34 Cd), but for an EV it needs to reduce further to improve range. The front end, even with the air ports blocked off, still represents a lot of unnecessary drag. That's probably why its range is only 220 miles for 90KWh battery, much less than the XP90D at 257 miles (the new XP100D has even better range at 289, according to Tesla website).
It is a difficult compromise between a bland car with very low Cd (Tesla) or a handsome car with poor mileage. At around $100K entry price, the car should be good looking with a range of 250 miles or more.
