Jeremy Clarkson says Mercedes E63 not exciting to drive?
I’d say that even though the Mercedes has more power, the M5 is a more thrilling ride. It really does feel very special when you’re in Exit mode, being suicidal. But I hear horror stories about the BMW’s electrics, and to live with every day the more refined, more grown-up Mercedes — I can’t believe I’m saying this — is the better bet.

Obviously the M5 is sportier. The E63 AMG caters to a different crowd. I don't see what the big deal is. Those who want an M5 want an M5 and vice versa.

BTW, I just posted this same article here but it hasn't been approved yet.

You're 25, and you already have an M6, an E420 CDI and an M5?

Jesus Christ! When did I miss that boat?

MDalle

You should have invented something that stops our containers catching fire whilst in transit! I'd pay you for that!

The E63's looks and power are what draw me in... BMW's M models have never been light on horsepower, but it's torque they have problems with. The E is just a more seductive car, but I'd take either.

But then, I'd take an RS4 over both.

If thats the case
Why not the CLS 55 (Soon to be 63) ?

Something just not right with the E-Class IMO

The CLS looks like a bigger SC 430. It is very droopy looking and for that reason, there is something very wrong with the CLS. The E Class is very elegant - and seductive.

What an incredinly smar...eh...STUPID comment. It smells of BIAS and BULLSHIT.

Both the M5 and E63 aren't fat pigs. Yes they're heavy, but your pig comment means they're slow and underpowered - which they most certainly aren't.

Crude and shaking body? WTF are you smoking?

As exciting to drive as a Camry eh?.... I don't know. I just kind of doubt that.

Yea, you are probably wrong....

Actually it's the grunt that's producing the E63 "Shake-up". All Merc engines have a nice grunt when you put the petal to the metal. It's not poor quality or refinement. It's a superb car that caters to an older crowd. It has presence that's for sure. It's a luxury car with a whole lot of GO in it.

The M5 is most likely not as comfortable to ride in the long haul but it has a sportier feel to it. However, the E63 combines luxury and power into one making it a great luxury sport saloon.

I agree with whoever said the CLS 55/63, its a much better option than both the E and the M5, no body can deny its beauty and to have a roaring AMG engine is always a plus...I have seen a CLS55 beat an M5 on a drag, I can only dream of what the 63 could do..

while the E63 might have better handling, the low end grunt and straightline accerlation doesn't match the E55.... here is a E63 1/4 mile run and dyno sheet:

logical, read MDalle's comment below.

He drives a BMW M5 and a BMW M6.

Have fun being an idiot.

And logical, it's funny, because the 420hp RS4 is faster than your puny 400hp M5.

Thank God there's more than one person in here who knows left from right...

I believe logical is a little envious... I was thinking very seriously of walking over to the Audi dealership and putting a deposit down on a Sprint Blue (over Silver) RS4 (loaded, $73K).

However, I reconsidered and am going to keep my beautiful Cabriolet for another three years or so... then I'll be buying some variant of a 911 convertible, or possibly a Jaguar XKR. I refuse to look at a 6 Series, because I don't want to end up like logical, but I may buy a 328xi for my next winter car... I need to gather my sides first.

Ricemaster, I am going to ignore you from now on because you're a troll, loud and clear.

I just want to say it one more time: CUT THE BULLSHIT.
