2017 Cadillac CT6 Rightful Attempt on German “ubersedans”
If we try to understand the class of full-size luxury sedans, offered by Cadillac, we can be easily confused if we are not paying full attention. Not so long ago we had STS and DTS at the same time, although the offer of more than one model in the same segment for American brand is not something so unusual. Then came XTS in 2012 replacing them both and making things easier to comprehend. But now for 2016, we have CT6, which is not trying to replace XTS, but rather to supplement Cadilac’s offer. And it does its job well, so pay attention to what it is bringing to the table in an attempt to better tackle Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7-Series, and Audi A8.

The CT6 is a a great car, but it's wheelbase is too short, it's styling is BORONG, and it needs a name rather than another alphabet soup idiocy. Jockitch DeNiaspan is an utter moron. Putting this out as a REPLACEMENT for the CTS, pricing it accordingly, and calling it "Seville" would have been the better move by far.

As maybe the only one here who actually owns a CT6(Yes - in black), I find conflicting arguments that don't feel justified to me. First - I believe that the XTS was competition for the ES350 - but it was overpriced as a front wheel drive car. If it was closer to the price of the ES - it would sell. However - the styling of the XTS makes the car look smaller than it is - and it is not especially up to date.

I agree with Matt - or he agrees with me - that we both feel Cadillac should have priced the non-selling ATS to compete with the CLA - which is clearly an inferior car to the ATS. THe current CTS should also have moved down to the price of a 3/A4/C class - where it would be the largest in the class - and the CT6 should and is almost priced in E-class territory - and sold against that. This way - Cadillac would be selling the largest car in each class - rather than the Smallest one.

Now - the CT6 is a far better car than the STS - or the DTS - or the XTS - but it simply is not a competitor for the S-class - in any way. Why Denysschen wants to sell smaller more nimble cars - makes no sense when Cadillac once represented everything that was HUGE, and Ostentatious (The one left - the Escalade actually sells well). And THAT is the problem. Cadillac no longer has that "place" in USA car sales as the Biggest and Best - and clearly the customer is being ignored. ANd ignoring the customer is something a sales organization does at their own peril. Having said that - the CT6 is clearly a MUCH better car than the last of the big rear wheel drive Lincoln Town Cars - and it provides a high quality feeling the Lincoln never had. I actually like the way it performs - and I especially (As a tall person) like the front seats - where I can get a good position - but where my 5" tall Mother can do likewise. And - after all the discounts (Hard to believe in a new car) - it was priced below the price they wanted for the E-class.

Seems like they kept the XTS around b/c - in top trim - it's a pretty nice (mid-level) luxury car w/an AWD 400HP 6-cyl engine & generous interior space. I wonder how many livery services have a few in their fleets today.

I agree the CT6 is a "new way of thinking" for Cadillac - which is good. It's light, roomy, luxurious, & powerful (in top trim). What's not to like? OK - doesn't look like an S-class or 7-series - good. In fact, the CT6 is giving the consumer everything the rivals provide that they want. Now, it comes down to subjective styling & brand recognition features.

What's Cadillac missing: competing AMG models for EVERYTHING. Not only powerful, but (tastefully) styled as well.

That front end doesn't say "luxury" to me, and I don't find it attractive. The profile and rear are okay-ish, I guess. It doesn't inspire praise.

I think the front looks great in person but the back could be more creative...Love this car and am seeing them on the road. It has a presence especially in Black.
