Which All-New Vehicle — That You've Driven — SURPRISED You In 2016?
Today, I received an all-new Jaguar F-Pace to test for the week. It's the R Sport variant equipped with a more than capable six-cylinder engine and I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised.

It has plenty of zip, sounds killer and its interior is not as offensive as I first recall seeing at the 2016 New York Auto Show. Is it perfect? Well, no, but that's OK as I explore more of it this week.

That said, I wanted to touch base with the Spies here and see if they've driven ANYTHING in 2016 that's caught them off guard and surprised them. We're looking for both POSITIVE and NEGATIVE feedback.

So, NAME and SHAME, Spies!

WHICH all-new vehicles have you driven in 2016 that surprised you?

Suggesting good things ahead for their respective brands:

F Pace / I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would.
Continental / It's a major step in the right direction for Lincoln.
G90 / Dumb name, but a truly velvety car.

I agree with the F-pace and the Continental - but I would include the Cadillac CT6 - which was much better than I expected based on how much I was disappointing with the CTS and ATS for very poor packaging. Add the Mercedes E-class to that - which simply hits all the buttons. Add in the Chevy VOLT for its new propulsion/battery system which I believe is a step ahead of any other.

I was disappointed with the Chrysler Pacifica - noting that last year I bought a Chrysler - and the new one is not as different as I would have expected. Yes - it looks better - and it does have an independent rear - but the inside packaging is hardly changed to me.

I was torn by the CT6. Yes, it's a good try, but the styling is virtually indistinguishable from the A/C/XTS cars and there really is nothing about it that makes it a "moment" to seize. It's the STS all over again.

A CT6V would inspire me. A CT6V named Elmiraj would inspire me.

Mercedes S63 AMG cabriolet. Beautiful inside and out with surprisingly sharp handling and impressive power and performance.

For fun test drove a Bentley Bentayga. Styling a bit awkward but the performance took me by complete surprise. At over 5,000 lbs it was fast, rock solid never floating and road hugging in the turns. Never thought a vehicle this heavy, this tall and this big could handle so well and be fun to drive. The interior of course was beautiful. Can't believe I am saying it but its worth every penny. Unfortunately a few more than I have!
