CAR WARS! An EV Shakedown: BMW i3 vs. Hyundai Ioniq vs. Nissan Leaf vs. Volkswagen e-Golf
Although I know that most enthusiasts aren't fans of electric vehicles, I have to say that since my first experience I've been intrigued. In some cases, I've even been delighted.

They're fun and interesting products in their own way. While I wouldn't want to have one as my sole vehicle, I could easily see myself having one or two in a fleet. Why? Well, they have their own unique benefits and for an everyday beater, I can't think of a better reason to snap up an EV.

But you don't just have one or two options in the market anymore. Our friends across the pond in the U.K. decided to put together a group test featuring an existing player and several newcomers. So, how did it shake out? See the verdict below.

1st - BMW i3 94Ah

"So good that it'll make you think differently about EVs. The i3 is one of the best urban cars money can buy, and great fun to drive."

2nd - Volkswagen e-Golf

"Pioneering technology delivered with VW polish. E-Golf is strong in every important area but curiously expensive on a monthly basis."

3rd - Hyundai Ioniq Electric Premium SE

"Hyundai's first dedicated battery car shows plenty of promise but needs better dynamic finishing. Good on value, practicality and range."

4th - Nissan Leaf 30kWh Tekna

"Original electric poster boy shows how far rivals have moved the game on. Leaf is still very credible and genuinely usable, though."

BMW must have paid a FORTUNE to get the truly terrible i3 in the #1 slot. Anyone who has driven an i3 would NEVER say ""So good that it'll make you think differently about EVs." If that were true, BMW wouldn't be offering 20-40% off list to get the BMW Aztek sold.

Granted Tesla is at a different level, but Tesla--not BMW--is worthy of "So good that it'll make you think differently about EVs."

I wonder how much VW paid for the #2 slot given that the Egolf was "...curiously expensive on a monthly basis."

Then you've never driven one more than a few miles. It's Third World dynamics at a BMW price.

The i3 is and excelent car , I consider it like a master piece in technology also advance in time , I love the car since first day and in white color to be exact the way its build and materials used like plastic , carbon , aluminum etc . Thanks again to BMW for another step forward in creating and building car and be an inspiration for others to follow. The test drives was awesome and something to remember.
