Mercedes-Maybach handpicking S650 Cabriolet buyers in U.S.
Mercedes has a "problem" all automakers would want to encounter. Demand for the ultra-posh S650 Cabriolet is very high in United States and that’s why the company has decided to select which customers are going to have the privilege of buying the model limited locally to 75 units. It will do that by working together with its 379-dealership network to contact the “best customers” and give them "the right of first refusal," according to Mercedes-Benz USA’s CEO Dietmar Exler.

Despite the fact that it’s going to cost more than $300,000, the Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet is already a hit in U.S. where people are lining up to buy it. Exler says the allocated production for what he described as being the "superluxury convertible" will probably last for less than a model year.

Just wait a year and buy a used (ahem Certified Pre-Owned) one 18 months later.

Its a trim package...folks.

Maybe the faux-exclusivity will juice the collectability of the 2005 to 2010 Maybach 57 and 62's? There were some later years where Mercedes struggled to sell 75 units of that line
