Cadillac Returns To Prototype Endurance Racing After 14 Year Hiatus
It's been fourteen years since Cadillac last fielded a racing prototype in the top tier of American sports car racing. But now the luxury automaker is returning with the slick new racer previewed here for the first time.

Called (somewhat awkwardly) the DPi-V.R, Cadillac's new racing prototype is built to the new Daytona Prototype international standards and will compete starting next season in the Prototype class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Utterly pointless. All efforts should be going into creating a series of SUVs capable of going toe to toe with the best from Mercedes and Land/Range Rover.

The SUV pipeline is already being addressed and is a priority. (That's the cash cow needed in the current public purchasing trend). This venture, supports the efforts Caddy has made in the last ten plus years, to build upon the V-series segment. All segments are viable, in order to support each other (not just financially-but also in brand perception), as well as diversifying the brand so that, not only will they have their eggs in multiple baskets, but to also help support cars-like the V-series- so they still exist for those of us who can not fathom a world without great performance luxury cars.
Cadillac has had their share of hits and misses. ( Some things great-some things half baked). But, they could, and can be a force if they remain focused once they totally nail their "new" long-term identity. That have the resources...

This venture squanders attention is all it does. The public isn't stupid. Nothing in the racer is "Cadillac". As you say, they could be a force if they remain focused. This racing thing is losing focus.

It's time to fire De Nysschen.
