Ford Confirms Trump's Election Saved 1,100 Jobs From Being Shipped To Mexico
President-elect Donald Trump “influenced” Ford Motor Co.’s decision to keep production of a Lincoln SUV in Kentucky instead of shipping it to Mexico, ranking officials confirmed Friday.

The confirmation came a day after the billionaire businessman was in Indianapolis for a press conference with air-conditioner manufacturer Carrier Corp., where Trump said as many as 1,100 jobs would stay in Indiana instead of moving to Mexico.

This topic was covered here a while back. But here's a recap: Ford throws Trump bone and he wags his tail while Ford quietly proceeds with the Mexico plant to build 10X number of cars in Mexico. It's a win-win situation, just for Ford and Trump.

The biggest question is why SUV jobs to Mexico? These are historically the most profitable models and the excuse has been we are only sending small car assembly to Mexico.

"Henry Ford didn't start this company to employ people and pay benefits#

Okay so you no nothing about Henry Ford, Ford was a huge fan of "welfare capitalism" paying his work double the going wage and providing profit sharing. He believed by providing his work with higher wages, got him the best workers and prevented turnover, and he even shorten the work week from six days to five. He also believed that if paid your employees well they would buy your product. No he wasn't just about the money.

I've never seen a biography of Henry Ford that portrayed him so favorably.

Because this would allow Ford to make even more money on SUVs?

Which is what they're in business to do. Henry Ford didn't start this company to employ people and pay benefits, he did it to make a product and make money. If you started a company would it be to pay people? Didn't think so...

I realize that they are in it for the money, I just don't understand why are you guys then complain/whine when these mfrs move job abroad to make more money, or the retailers buy their stuff from Chinese suppliers, or the services sector go to India and Philippines for getting tech support. Why do you guys moan/groan about these business moves?

Do you get my question now xjug1987a, or are you too stupid to understand that too?

Hmmm. So let me get this straight... Republicans are now in favor of stepping into business decisions, picking business winners and losers, and rhetoric for trade tariffs and barriers? Wow. Reagan would be barfing up a lung right now. You know you've made a weird turn in politics when Republicans toss Reagan to the curb.

He's beta testing tax/tariff adjustments at a micro-level to see what works in a few companies in various states in various sectors. This way his initial changes will perform the best when rolled out nationally.

For example, if you calculate the Carrier deal it is $6,463 per job retained ($7M/1,100). It seems to me the taxpayer is the winner here - I'm sure the average unemployed person benefits + tax loss is much more than that.

Murica first and foremost and this is coming from a canuck who envies your country and what Trump is already doing. By the time he is sworn in as the Grand Poobah, I'm sure he will surpass the Community Organizer employment creation record over his 8 year vacation/presidency. Time to post that eviction notice...

MDarringer - you seem to phrase everything around the anus. Is that where you climb out of your mom or is it what you use to think with?

@nguyenvuminh: since MD has certified himself a pile of dung, stepping on him will stink this whole site. I would suggest that you thumb your nose on it, turn away and let it fantasize about your behind.

@HenryN - thanks for the sage advice. I just like to tease him from time to time, just to see what witty responses he can generate ... still not seeing it. I do see he has a lot of experience with butt related idioms though, must be from all the actions he gets in that area.

You are right about that since our Mattie frequently brags about his men's room exploits. Mostly he is just a lonely, pathetic, psychotic piece of shit that is way over his head in this industry.
