2018 Fiat 124 Coupe Render Revives Classic Nameplate
The Fiat 124 Coupe was originally based on the 124 sedan range, rather than the 124 Sport Spider of 1966, which influences the latest version.

The transformation seems to complement the lines of the 124 Spider extremely well, lending it a GT-like quality, reminiscent of an Aston Martin DB7- especially around the rear haunches.

We'd hope the 1.4-litre MultiAir of the topless version would be swapped out for something with a bit more oomph, say Alfa Romeo's 1.75-liter, 240hp from the 4C.

I'd love the engine from the Alfa Romeo 4C in a rebodied GT86.

Face it - Matt - this would still be a low-production product - and would not bring Fiat back. The problem is that FIAT has no mainstream product in the categories that Americans actually BUY - ie - compact-mid-size cars - and Mid-and large Crossovers. AND rather than addressing the issue - they have abandoned the segments with Chrysler - which means nothing for FIAT either. They would be better off without trying to sell FIATS in the USA - they simply cannot sell enough to cover their AD costs alone.

True, but the article was about a new coupe, so obviously NOT about a volume product.

Actually doing a coupe is good for both Fiat and Mazda. It creates an extra market for people who do not want a convertible. It also expands the production line in Hiroshima for Mazda and Fiat and ensures they will keep making this car. Finally then this platform now would offer 4 different variants. 2 convertibles, one targa and one coupe. That clearly gives it an advantage over the Toyobaru Twins.
