What Took So Long? Maserati Now Hell Bent On A Hybrid By 2019
Maserati is considering a number of alternative-fuel options for future models, including conventional hybrid, plug-in hybrid and 48-volt hybrid as well as pure electric models.

An all-electric model, such as the rumoured Alfieri sportscar, is not possible on the current platform, so it is likely a hybrid will be launched first, which can be incorporated into the existing structure. “The current platform allows for hybrid,” said Maserati Europe boss Giulio Pastore. "We are working on it for 2019 when we will be ready to offer hybridisation.”

If I were an FCA shareholder I would vote to breakup the company and sell off all its brands individually. The parts are worth far more than the whole. Jeep, Dodge, Alfa, Maserati, Ferrari are all great brands (sorry Fiat) with great heritage. Together they fight amongst themselves for limited resources and cash and as a result they all suffer...delayed introductions, model cancellations, poor quality, etc. Sell them now to companies that can afford investment (like Volvo did) and still see promise in building brands before its too late.

Hybrid may not be a long term ticket. I would love to drive the All-Electric Alfieri, also the Porsche Mission E. Throw in Jaguar, BMW, Audis and MB EVs, then we'll have new and booming luxury/performance EV market.

The luxury/performance EV market will probably not be a large one, in my opinion.

FCA is just a big mess at this point - undercapitalized, unreliable, uninteresting (the Chrysler 300 platform is going to rival Ford's Fox platform, which was in production for about 25+ years, for longevity at some point). Tough one.

Henry - you might be the only person who 'would love to drive the All-Electric Alfieri'.

As the saying goes - build it and they will come!

I am sure companies investing billions of dollars in EVs are not looking to sell a few compliance cars.

So Sergio was going to build up Maserati but lost focus before that was done and decided to resurrect Alfa Romeo instead but now he's losing focus on that to build Maserati???
