Lexus Readies To Take Down The 7 Series In Detroit With Next Generation LS

The next generation Lexus LS will be revealed at the Detroit Motor Show in January. The news has been officially confirmed by the brand, ahead of the reveal next month.

The introduction of the original LS took place at the same show in 1989, heralding the birth of the Lexus brand. Since then, the Toyota-owned manufacturer has utilised pioneering hybrid drivetrains across its range, shunning diesel power in its entirety.

We'd already spotted the car testing ahead of its launch next year, but now Lexus has confirmed we'll see the car in the metal in the first few weeks of 2017. Lexus says it will feature "visionary technology", built on an extended version of the brand's new GA-L luxury vehicle global architecture – as seen on the new Lexus LC 500h.

AS long as they keep their cow catcher grille - they will have a hard time even overcoming the 7 series. Sorry - but the "look" just does not scream "luxury" to me!

Can't wait to see it in person and the spindle grill keeps growing on me.

I have this picture in my head - the S class is off in a corner of the playground making 3 pointers after 3 pointers by himself in his blue jeans while the other boys playing in a different court decked out in their favorite NBA team clothes and $150 shoes doing no look pass, fancy dribbling, while rimming 80% of their shots.

Lexus cars always look better when the camo wrap and cladding are left on. Please don't remove it!

The 7 series took itself out with uglier and uglier designs each year. Lets be honest here, the LS has only 1 target and that's the S class. It's the same target every manufacture has. So far no one has been able to come close.

Actually, it could target the second-banana status of the 7 Series and displace BMW and THAT would be a much more logical goal for this generation of the LS.
