Google Spins Off Waymo To Assist In Developing Self Driving Technology

Google’s self-driving car project is now its own company called Waymo and is headed by CEO John Krafcik. The company exists under Google parent company Alphabet and will operate like a “venture-backed startup,” Krafcik said at a press event today. It will be responsible for developing self-driving technology and will explore opportunities in trucking, logistics and automaker partnerships.

Actually, the best way to cut down on traffic deaths would be to make handheld phone usage impossible by the driver. The technology exists to do just that without disabling the phones of the passengers.
