SPYSHOTS: New Jaguar S-Type

Examining the pictures gives clues to the look of the car, which is rumored to be Jaguar’s long-awaited break with traditional styling. The new hood is cut away sharply over the headlights and the grille looks as if it will be cut further down into the front bumper. If these clues are anything to go by, the new S-Type, will have a much more aggressive look than today’s oddly retro machine. We also understand that the car will be the first Jag to adopt a modern nose-down, tail-up stance.

That's because the rear end of the current version was grafted onto the new front end. Notice how there's no camouflage from the A-Pillar back. Even if it was only tweaked a tiny bit, don't you think Jaguar would cover up the whole car?

Same for everyone else- the A-Piller and all the panels behind it are from the current car's body. The new one will be dramatically different, supposedly a lot like the XK (although that may be what the XJ will look more like).

Not a fan of that p-chop. However, anything is better than the current ancient S-Type (going onto its 8th model year) The only current vehicle sold longer is the the VW New Beetle, as far as I can remember.

And there are plenty of cars that went for longer than eight years.

I know the orgininal VW Beetle was produced for around 60 years if not more. Such a long production cycle (years) is quite rare today. Simply, Jaguar should have had a replacement for the S-Type by now.

I wouldn't say they're better than any BMW on the road, but I'd rather own an XJ8 than a 750i and I'd rather own a new XK than a 650i-- by FAR. The new XK is stunning, and the 6 Series has an awkward shape from the B-Piller back.

In fact, my wife may end up with a British Racing Green XJ8 in January. The E350 4Matic seems more practical because of its AWD, but the XJ is undoubtedly cooler and way more car for the money. We're test-driving it on Saturday.
