2017 Golf Gets A Boost To 306 Horsepower

The 2017 Volkswagen Golf R produces 310bhp from its turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, which is 10bhp more than the pre-facelift car and matches the peak output of the Golf GTI Clubsport S, as well as the Honda Civic Type R.

That power hike makes this the quickest variant of Volkswagen’s best-selling hatchback ever sold, and it’s joined by a jump in torque of 20lb ft, bringing the maximum figure to 295lb ft.

yes but it will offer a much more comfortable ride than a Focus RS in day to day driving. That is the RS's downfall. Many publication have consistently complained about how poor it's ride quality is.So unless you are on a race track or ultra smooth road you really don't want to drive day to day. A Golf R sacrifices ultimate handling for something you can live with all the time while still enjoying it's performance.
