With lots of cities and countries in Europe - and with California mandating electric vehicles - and zero (From the tailpipe) emissions - and ever increasing Mileage standards - ALL car manufacturers will have to invest in Hybrids and electric platforms. This is the current only way to comply and those laws are not going away.

Eventually - I suspect Hybrids will be the mainstream powertrain. And in some cities - there will only be electric vehicles.
