I agree. The rag-top doesn't befit the sleek sheet metal.
I read somewhere that Audi was sticking with ragtops because they felt they fit the brand better. Don't know why they feel that way, but with MB, Lexus and even Mazda offering a folding hardtop--with the 3-series on the way--I'm sure Audi will find it within their brand personality to offer one as well.
This car would be a great candidate for one.

Wow, I can't believe anyone would ever say the TT was ugly.
It completely dominated world car design from 1998-2005, and revitalized Audi as a design leader.
To say the TT is ugly is like saying the Porsche 911 isn't a sports car. It just is.

Oh, please, logical, you can't afford the $104K Carrera S cabriolet I'm going to place an order on next year (there's a HUGE waiting list).
Do you remember the Audi 5000? The car 60 Minutes rigged to accelerate when they pressed the "brake" pedal?
It completely changed the world of automotive design. Before that fateful episode happened, the 5000 was shaping the future. It had the perfect proportions you see on all sedans today, including BMWs. Bangle hasn't changed a thing about car design.
The revolutionary 5000 spurred a host of world-beating designs because of its aerodynamism, notably, the best-selling Ford Taurus. The car should be written in the rule books as the basis for modern car design.
