Ferrari J50 might be blueprint for brand’s future design
Ferrari’s Special Projects division has built a bespoke supercar to mark the 50th anniversary of the Italian marque’s sales in Japan. You’ll recall Ferrari did something similar in 2014 to mark 60 years of sales in the United States.

The Japanese special is the J50 which Ferrari has confirmed will be built in a limited run of just 10 examples. Last week the car made its debut at the Ferrari 50 Year in Japan Anniversary Finale held at Tokyo’s New National Art Museum.

I sure hope so. It's the best-looking new Ferrari in a long-time. With respect to exterior styling, my only criticisms are that the headlights and "B-pillar" aren't "just so," but not in a serious way.

This is the first new Ferrari in the past several years that I want to own... but that's a moot point, as it's well out of my financial reach at this time. Nicely done, Ferrari. Very nicely done!

I still wish they had a manual trans. I can afford some of them - not the very most expensive - but alas - age has caught up with me. If I were 20 years younger - though!

TomM: re "...I still wish they had a manual trans...."

I've been driving stick for over 3 decades. I'm proficient at it, but I enjoy an SUV with a silky-smooth 8-speed automatic.

Mind you, if I was getting a serious sports car or exotic, like this Ferrari, I'd very much want it with a clutch pedal and a stick on the floor (like you). It just feels more "engaging" to me. I desire a car like this for the experience, the man-machine interaction... not the quickest lap times (as offered by a sequential shifter).

That would be most disappointing. The nose is pure Lamborghini rip off and overall the car is bland.

TheSteve- Get an older car. Manuals are going away. Cars are getting more computerized. Electric cars dont need transmissions. In fact in 10 years expect more self driving cars.

bperlow: I'm currently driving a <2 year old SUV with a slick 8-speed auto. I love it. I left behind a BMW 328 with a stick. Love it, too. I have no complaints about my current automatic transmission. I'm (casually) eying a Porsche 718... with a sequential shifter. Nice!
