The big question though is will this years show live up to the hype that surrounds it year after year?
Are you optimistic the car business will be robust in 2017 and will get off to the right start at NAIAS? Do you expect to see some game changers this year or will it just be business as usual and they will just go through the motions?
Will it be the BOMB or a BUST?
Make your predictions in our comments and also let us know what you're looking forward to most at the show?
And don't forget to check out the breaking photos every day in our preview gallery and our Auto Spies archived photos from previous NAIAS events. Some of these shots bring back vivid memories — some good, some bad and some in between. Seriously though, some of these snaps are GOLD!
Let us know what you think!

If "Some of the products are already showing in Las Vegas CES..." then it will come down to the star power of what is introduced. If it's just introductions of new production models and Buick/Cadillac concepts that will never be built, then it will be interesting but more bust than bomb.

Its the first big auto show of the year, so I guess by definition, it can't bomb. It might be more exciting or more boring than in prior years, but at the end of the day its a trade show with a retail consumer component, so it 'is what it is'.
It will be a predictor about how much excitement will be coming at the later regional shows - but at the end of the day, it is a traveling trade show.

Toyota/Lexus may save this years NAIAS, with new model showings. GM, Ford, FCA may be the most boring.

Polarizing styling - such as Lexus - with its cow-catcher grilles - and the new TOYOTA Prius - which looks like a two year old drawing with crayons - may sell well initially to those who don't care - but when those sales are done - sales then drop off - especially when there are better looking options. THe same is true with DATED styling - where there are those who are loyal to the marque (BMW is an example) - and buy initially - then sales drop off because others are looking for something newer.
The age when GM led sales because they changed their styling every year has ended - because they cannot afford to do that anymore - but back then people did not want to be caught with one of the OLDER cars - because several styling generations had passed.
