#NAIAS: Agent 001 Does A Walkaround Of The 2018 Honda Odyssey — Handsome And Trim?
When it comes to top-selling minivans, the Honda Odyssey always has a spot. There's a reason for that.
Simply put, Honda puts out a good product that meets customer needs. Oh, and their styling tends to capture broad interest. From what we can tell, it doesn't appear as though Honda is looking to change its successful formula.

2018 Honda Odyssey
HERE!
Seen at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) for the first time, the 2018 Odyssey is expected to be yet another big-time seller for the Japanese brand. All new, top to bottom, the Odyssey has evolved into the company's latest design language.
That means it carries a more prominent front grille and utilizes some new lines as you eye wanders front to back. While it may not be an innovative approach, what I can say that it is respectable and at least handsome, which is really all you can ask for if you're looking for a family hauling minivan.

I find it even uglier than the current one.

Another ugly D pilliar on an Asian car. The rest is boring.

The styling is not great but OK. Then again this is a minivan.
One thing I notice is that the sliding door don't open as wide as the current ones. May be it is just the picture and in real life it is a non issue.

Attractive enough for the segment. The Pacifica, while subjectively more attractive, has little impact on the eyes. I'm just glad that Honda demonstrated some restraint here, and didn't resort to some of the odd (but not all bad) styling elements of the CR-V and Civic.

No Stow and Go (Type) second row seats - is a BIG blunder. This is the main reason why I bought my Chrysler Mini-Van over a Honda - where you must REMOVE the second row seats to get a flat floor (ALthough it will then hold a 4x8 - like the Chrysler). Not having to wrestle those seats up and out of the car - and find a place where they wont get dirty or damaged is great. This way - the car can be withing a few minutes - used for carrying cargo - and you always have the seats when you need them.
Also - when driving without passengers - it means I can put those seat down for an Unobstructed view out the windows of the vehicle. However - the new Pacifica is not really that different from the older T&C inside - and I have POWER rear side windows - something that you can no longer get in the Pacifica.

It's all about priorities. You either get configurable/movable seats or you get stowable seats. Apparently, Honda's buyers value the configurable/movable seats more, I guess. My sister had a minivan for close to 10 years and never once did she or her husband remove the 2nd row seats. My brother and his wife used their Stow-n-Go seats exactly once in the over 10 years they had a Chrysler minivan.
