SPIED! FIRST Pictures Of The All-New, 2018 BMW 5-Series Unlike ANYTHING You've Seen Before...
The BMW 5-Series is one of the blue and white's most important nameplates. While there's been a hefty transition of buyers swapping sedans for sport-utility vehicles, the reality is that the 3-Series and 5-Series still move units in volume.

Oh, and the competition has been dialing up the heat on BMW. There's a lot of players selling a luxury sedan for, give or take, $50,000-60,000 dollars.

2018 BMW 5-Series

What better way to figure out which is best for your fleet than by getting behind the wheel first hand?

This week the head honcho at AutoSpies, Agent 001, took a bird straight from Detroit to northern California to attend the launch of the all-new BMW 5-Series. It was held in the Bay Area's Palo Alto, you know, home to venture capitalists that litter Sand Hill Road and, of course, Stanford University.

To get an idea of what the all-new 5 is about, scope out 001's first shots from the trip. We're pretty confident no one detailed the car quite like 001. See the pics, below!

Stay tuned to more photos from this event, right here on AutoSpies.com!

The cowboy interior looks like it came straight from a Ford F150 Lariat pick-up. And what is it that we haven't seen before? Looks like the same 'ol 5-Series crap we've been looking at from BMW for the last 10 years ... and I'm a fan of BMWs!

That particular brown leather is definitely warm & inviting...like a comfy sofa in the 2nd den. A bright(er) color variation would look like some ole cheap chaps duly meant for an F150 King Ranch rig.

On the exterior design, I admit I'm a bit biased. I like the current 7-series. Now the 5-er looks like the 4/5ths version. I'm still not a fan of so much chrome. So all the shiny bits can be gunmetal grey or whatever option BMW has to just "blackout" all the brightwork.

I'm a fan. I find it sharp inside and out. I like the evolutionary lines. Its far more pleasing to my eye than the new E.

It's a wonderfully handsome car and still is with this latest one. Having said that, it's just hard to expand the customer base without some noticeable changes in its exterior design.

So BMW put a new headlight refresh and Audi seat leather. Still looks like an old BMW. I am not buying an expensive new car that looks the same as the old models.

Did BMW style it like a Chinese clone of the new 5 Series so as to see what the Chinese would do so as to know how to fix the fcuked over 5 Series?

Mercedes is laughing.

Lincoln is giddy at the segment suicide.

Audi is clueless.

It's different enough to keep BMW loyalists. But it will gain little to no conquest sales. This is the exact moment that Genesis needs to get out their G80 Sport. The E-Class is doing okay for itself, considering the shift to SUV's and the strength of C-Class.

I'll take that '72 Chrysler Newport convertible.

The front headlights and grille look terrible.

We've already seen BMW's U.S. sales in 2016 drop by 9.5%. BMW is launching a hugely important product that looks just like the old one.

While Mercedes-Benz's new E-class looks nearly identical to the C-Class and comes with a 4-cylinder engine without an option for a 6-cylinder (unless opting for an AMG model), it at least is more differentiated compared to the current E-Class.

BMW is in the shitter. Audi isn't that much better off with its Camrys.

I wonder how they were able to get the rear view camera angle on the left. This is quite interesting.

It's their surround view camera system - it's been available on several models for a while now

Looks like it could be a 10 year old model, but maybe that was the objective.

Looks like BMW is playing it safe with its sedans & wagons while they kinda have a design party with their SUVs. Makes sense. They not selling as many non-SUVs just like all the other automakers, but they still have to keep their entire lineup updated. It's got all the tech giz-wiz gadgets that'll keep an owner on "learn mode" until the lease is up.
