VW Lawyer Claims DOJ Handling Of Charges Violates German Legal Principles
A lawyer for one of the Volkswagen executives charged last week by U.S. prosecutors over the company's diesel emissions scandal said the way they handled the legal process would have been unconstitutional under German law.

"We learned of the indictment from a live press conference," Hamburg-based lawyer Annette Voges said on Monday, adding that the Department of Justice (DOJ) had neither contacted former VW brand development chief Heinz-Jakob Neusser before charging him, nor granted her access to the files.

"This conduct contradicts (German) constitutional principles," added Voges, who is representing Neusser, the highest-ranking of the six people charged.

?? I thought 'Auto Spies' was about cars. Why is this site getting so political? The photo of Obama has nothing to do with the story...

Yes, we get that Agent 009 has a conservative agenda (and he's entitled). But making this site a personal venue in order to push a particular point of view will eventually lead to it's downfall.

Bad idea.

German laws do not apply in American courts. That our laws are different than German Laws is meaningless. IF it was an American company in the German court for cars sold in Germany - their laws would apply. In this case - they are selling cars in the USA and they have to comply and apply OUR laws. In fact - as a corporation - they even need an AMERICAN lawyer.

As far the picture above - Agent 009 has often shown his feeling against him - and this will probably be his LAST CHANCE.
