A new GT4 could come in 400-500 lighter than a comparable Panamera Turbo. Would love to see this come to fruition just for the heck of it. The rendering of the GT4 from this article looks better than the 2-door and, IMO, better than the new Panamera. But I do not agree with the article that it would target the BMW 6GC. The CLS already competes with that car.

To *my* eyes, Porsche has classic, timeless, gorgeous styling. I love their (slightly revised) facelifted Panamera. Simply gorgeous, all around, inside and out.

I also like Mercedes, a lot, in MOST aspects. Some of the areas I feel they could improve include:

- Stuck-on iPad screens (get rid of them; they look poorly designed)

- Headlights (they look hastily thrown together and incohesive. Get rid of the conflicting swishes and pixels. Adopt a simple outline for the DRLs, either around the entire light assembly, like the late model 1st-Gen Audi Q5, or around the projector assembly, like some BMWs). It looks simple, yet good!

- Truck-like grill/face. The big flat surface doesn't seem to work well, in my mind.

For these few reasons, I feel it's going to be hard for MB to beat Porsche, though if you're a big MB fan, my objections might not matter to you. It'll be a Mercedes, after all.

Great in principle, but I question the size of this niche. So MB is basically making a more athletic CLS?
