2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid Could Hit 50 MPG City
It seems likely that the recently-introduced 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid will be able to achieve 50 mpg in the city when it hits the market later this year.

The automaker failed to reveal just how fuel efficient its latest model is at its Detroit Auto Show premiere but Car and Driver suggests that 50 mpg could be on the cards, allowing the model to be the most fuel-efficient in its class.

With the new aggressive look and driving dynamic, plus 50MPG, the Camry will be unbeatable on midsize sales. Unfortunately the real competition for the Camry now is not Accord, but it's RAV4 and CR-V.

If it's true, the regular Prius will perform even worse. I guess Prius Prime will take over regular Prius soon.

A high mileage Hybrid is not going to increase Camry sales - Hybrids are not selling except in California. You are correct that competition from CUVs will cost Camry sales.

However - the new "bolder" styling that Toyota is using - done no doubt by their new Blind head of styling - will alienate some of their customers. Enough so that neither has much chance of maintaining their current sales numbers.

Kudos for the good city numbers. Boo for the face that only Mamma Lexus could love.

I predict similar results as Civic effect, much improved demand, and Camry taking away from other mid-size models; Fusion, Malibu, Altima, Sonata, all sub-par in comparison. Styling will be bonus looking like the new car that it is, just as popular as RAV and NSX, debunking the critics here.

New ranking to my eyes: Camry, 6, Accord, Sonata, Altima
