Did Obama And The EPA Place A Million Jobs At Risk For The Sake Of A Legacy?

Ford CEO Mark Fields informed President Donald Trump that around 1 million jobs could be at risk if newly implemented fuel economy standards aren’t adjusted. The assessment came following a meeting between the heads of major automakers and the president on Tuesday, according to Bloomberg.

Fields, along with Mary Barra of General Motors and Sergio Marchionne of Fiat Chrysler noted that they weren’t looking to eliminate fuel economy standards, but that they wanted more flexibility after the Environmental Protection Agency recently finalized new rules for the nation’s vehicles. The trio urged the president to consider “combining various sets of government regulations and ensuring they take into account consumer demand”.

Don't worry about Obama's badness. That's all behind us now. We're well on our way to being Great Again. If if we don't get "great again," don't worry -- we can always blame the previous administration for the mess we inherited. Either way, we win. I think :-(

Good point Steve, but it's going to take a few years to undo all the messes created by Obama. It's just nice to finally have some optimism again in this country.

Right on. The past is the past and the crazies now know what it felt like for the rest of us these past eight years. Just didn't think they were this nuts and resentful...my mistake.

Yeah...Democrats hate us so much they're gonna take away our healthcare, ban Muslims and other religious ethnic minorities, take away women's right to choose, take away civil rights, and promote white supremacy...and to top it off, put the most corrupt individuals in office and line their own greedy pockets. Friggin hate Democrats.

Sorry to break it to you ... but the Democratic Party does NOT hate America.

And it does NOT despise Americans.

You may disagree with their stance on the issues. But to say that a political party - that doesn't agree with your thinking - is somehow "Less American" is ridiculous.

Stop thinking that anyone who isn't a conservative Republican can't be a patriot. That's absurd.

+1 MBguy... people gotta stop fighting and accept that we are all individuals and will have different opinions. Heck just look at your own family, everyone have their own perspectives and opinions but you still consider your kids/spouse/parents family right? So Americans can't disagree?

People need to identifying with policies not individuals, with action, not talk. But we need to have be empathetic and understand that one policy might work well for you but can devastate another person's life. I have no political orientation, just like how I have no brand loyalty towards cars. (ie : Most people on here know that I find most BMW nasty looking but I still like the i8 and the 6 series. And I acknowledge that they are great drivers cars.)

Yah so lets try to remember, it's differences in ideas that pushes people to improve and be better. And most importantly, this is an automobile blog for Christ sake.

-W222 "And most importantly, this is an automobile blog for Christ sake."

Nice concept, but wrong assumption for this site. This is a bullshit site, ran by Repubtard admins, focusing on politics while parroting enough real car news created by others to masquerade as a car site. They have no concept of how to run and grow a web based business(hint - don't continue to insult your potential customers - - - 50% of car buyers are women, and 50% of men car buyers are liberal, so that leaves you with a serviceable market of 25% until you subtract out the younger generation that just don't care about cars). Not even Trump, our lying dictator and thief, is going to save this downward spiraling site.

Autospies is so bad now that it doesn't even have a ranking in the current top car sites: http://www.ebizmba.com/articles/car-websites

If you want a real car site, you need to visit Autoblog, Jalopnik, MotorTrend, Car and Driver, TopSpeed, etc. These are all real car sites, creating real news, ran by good admins, with no politics.

While I don't think that Obama hates Americans, I do think that he set this country back and missed a lot of opportunities over the course of his 8 years. I have seen his party's policies hit close to home as my parents (now in their 60s) who are small business owners have had to make decisions to scale back their business and hire fewer people in order to deal with Obamacare and other regulations. It's nice to have a business guy who understands business and job creation as our POTUS. It's also nice to have a POTUS that focus on the interests of Americans first.

Wouldn't matter telling you anything...race baiting white clowns such as yourself don't do to well with facts and truth. You've been raised on 'alternative facts' and that's all you know.

BobM, you're the only one that's whining here. If you have nothing better to contribute, quit complaining. This is what we adults call having a conversation.

carfan78, I can relate to what you are talking about. I run a business and I had drawbacks with some regulations Obama mandated. And if the operation is small, the additional overhead is enough to push some businesses into the red.

Some people don't get why the trump's base is so united and angry. Most of them are united and upset due to necessity. When you have food on the table, you don't mind sharing with your neighbors. But when you and your kids are suffering, you are not as inclined to share. I am very fortunate to have friends from the south and middle America. They provided new perspective for me.

I grew up on the west coast so my experiences are obviously different from those that didn't. I'm also a business owner so I tend to lean right when it comes to financial policies. But because I live in a diverse state, I have obligations to those around me. Trumps policies are great for my business but at the same time alienates some of my friends, and associates.

Nothing is ever going to be 100% right or wrong, that's why you have to pick and choose what is suitable for you. I didn't vote for Obama, but this time around I didn't vote for a republican either. I think both sides need to see that we are essentially after the same things. But given that everyone has different opportunities in life, we just need respect other people's choices and opinions that are different from ours.
