BMW Recalls 230,000 Vehicles Because They May Have Takata Airbags
BMW is recalling more than 230,000 cars and SUVs in the U.S. to replace potentially dangerous Takata air bag inflators.

The automaker says the vehicles may have had a driver’s air bag replaced with a Takata inflator after a crash or in a previous recall. The vehicles originally were built with inflators made by another company.

The recall covers certain 3 series cars from 2000 to 2002, some 5 series cars from 2001 to 2002, and some X5 SUVs from 2001 to 2003.

They can recall all they want, but when there's no replacements available what good does it do? My 2005 Dodge 1500 has had an open recall for close to two years, but the dealer still doesn't have replacements.

How ironic, during this week of bad BMW news, that the picture used is of a 2001-2006 BMW 745i - though technically a sales success, one of the worst BMW's ever made.

It was a truly terrible vehicle, which by the way, I don't think has ever contained a Takata airbag.

Honda or Toyota, please rescue BMW before existing management runs it into the ground.
