Musk Says UAW Claims Of Underpaid Ond Overworked Workers Are Morally Outrageous

Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk has pushed back against claims that workers at the company’s Fremont, Calif., plant are underpaid and overworked, setting the stage for a fight over potential unionization at the plant.

Jose Moran, who claims to have worked at the factory for four years, made the accusations in a blog post on Medium. Moran said workers have contacted the UAW -- which has been reaching out to Tesla employees since last year -- about their concerns.

Rhetoric aside, keep in mind that Tesla Motors is bleeding red ink, and has since Day-1. They run at a loss. They *borrowed* money (+ sold shares) to build their gigafactory (for those who don't know accounting, this means that if they had not built the factory, it would NOT have affected their profit at all). They only continue to operate by getting cash from grants, loans, and selling shares, otherwise they'd be out of business.

An employee should consider the position of their employer before making demands for more higher pay. If the employer is constantly running at a loss, and getting deeper in debt, then where do you think they'll find the extra money to pay your higher salary? How do you think that your higher salary -- especially if this means higher salaries for all employees through unionization -- will make your employer company healthier, more profitable, and more likely to survive?

Employee: You want more money? Go to an employer who recognizes your true worth, without arguing about it or low-balling you, and work for them!

Tesla also makes a lot of cash selling carbon credits to auto companies that have to buy them in order to keep selling ICE vehicles in places like Calif. which have quotas for the % of carbon free vehicles sold by a manufacturer. If they can't meet the quota they buy credits from Tesla to satisfy the rule.

Vette71: They do indeed get income from selling carbon credits, a government scheme (tax) to force the reduction on carbon emissions. Even so, even with Tesla's sale of carbon credits, they still continue to run at a loss.

The ZEV credits are actually hurting Tesla at this point, they will be the first to say that they would be better off with 0 credits. California, their biggest market, also eliminated the $2500 rebate for most drivers. The federal rebate expires for Tesla next year. They have received far fewer benefits than then the subsidies oil/gas companies continue to receive to this day.

Musk is the darling of the far left. Musk has taken over a billion dollars of taxpayer money to prevent his operation from sinking. Now that Trump is bringing back jobs and business to the U.S., the labor unions are warming up to this wonderful capitalist Trump. Unions are not feeling obligated to pay lip service to the Alinskyite/socialist democrat party and are finally speaking their mind freely to the panic of the liberals.
