Following the new effort to unionize Tesla’s workforce amid the production expansion for Model 3, CEO Elon Musk claimed it was an organized push by the United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) to take back the factory.

The effort started with claims of poor salaries and working conditions in a statement from an employee and despite Musk first reducing the claims to a tactic by a “union agitator”, he now says that he is conducting an investigation of the claims made in the statement.

This would be a funny Saturday Night Live skit - Elon Musk as Undercover Boss! (Adam Driver was hilarious undercover Darth Vader boss on Deathstar on SNL).

Elon goes on the production line in disguise, listens to employees complain about how the parts don't fit together, their poor pay, their overtime, the harsh working conditions in the 30 year old former Toyota/Chevy Nummi factory. Tesla PR dept decides to make a 'potemkin' village production line elsewhere, hire some actors, re-filming takes place, and problem solved.

Wonder if anyone has a patent on the concept of 'alternate facts'?

Elon was sleeping on the line floor in a sleeping bag during the peak of the Model X falcon door issues, he's not afraid to get his hands dirty.

I am really surprised about the pay since I saw a business journal article a few months back where the average salary in the factory is $50-55/hr. I wonder if it is just a few really low-end jobs that pay the $17-22 that was referenced. Even with overtime, that is nowhere near livable in Silicon Valley.
