One Of The FINEST GM Product's Is About To STOP Production, Forever. Better Act FAST If YOU Want One...
I feel like a broken record but here we go, again.

If there's one thing that General Motors does well, it's the production of high-performance automobiles. Although they may not be the vehicle of choice for everyone, it's tough to top what the auto builder has been capable of in recent years.

Just think: The latest-gem Cadillac CTS-V, Chevrolet Corvette (C7), Cadillac ATS-V, the latest Chevrolet Camaro, etc. They're all great vehicles and, boy, has GM been focusing on their respective driving dynamics.

While I just mentioned some of the company's latest achievements, one that will certainly go down in history is the Holden-based Chevrolet SS. Formerly the Pontiac G8, the SS is the latest iteration from GM. While I haven't piloted the SS, I have had the chance to drive a G8 GXP and it was something special. It definitely didn't feel American and many have equated it to being an E39 BMW M5 just all new.

Here's the thing, Spies. If you've wanted one you may want to consider placing an order before the end of February. That's because that's when the order books close. You can risk it and wait to see if dealer inventory levels leave a surplus this summer, which will result in some lovely discounts, but we're just putting you on notice.

Let us know if you're going to pull the trigger on what some are calling a "modern classic."

The end is nigh, fellow Americans: our final dose of Australian muscle is coming to a close. Previously, we warned potential buyers February would be the final month to place an official order for a 2017 Chevrolet SS performance sedan. Well, here we are.

February has flown by, and that means time is ticking to visit your local Chevrolet dealer and cement your order for precious cargo from Australia. Though, if your experience is anything like ours, the dealer will likely try and show you a Camaro SS, unaware of what an SS is...

The SS was an even dumber move than the G8. The styling of the SS is dull beyond belief and its sticker price is ridiculous. They languished on the lots and were sold with massive discounts. A Hemi Charger is simply a better product in every conceivable way.

It's also a dated chassis...

Personally, I don't think I could talk myself into getting one. It was a great product back when it was a G8.

It might be an old chassis, but the car drives beautifully. ^^ Its from the pre everything electronic era of performance cars and that just gives it a personality you can't find these days with all the electronic nannies. Hydraulic steering, big V8 producing 400+ hp, plenty of torque, and a sleeper look. In terms of raw performance and driving "feel", I would go as far as calling it the modern day E39 M5, but without all the class that the M5 used to have. It will be missed.

@aboodesta13 You clearly have not driven both the SS and the Hemi Charger. The SS is most decidedly NOT a budget M5. A Hemi Charger drives better and has all the mechanical goodies and better styling. The SS shows you its age rather evidently, but the Charger hides it better.

No one will miss the SS because no one bought the SS in the first place. The SS arrived and enthusiasts said "no thank you" to the offer. The Charger will be missed when Sergio pulls it from production--and he will.

SS with magnetorheological suspension is way better than anything you can get on a Dodge. There is also an available Tremec 6-Speed manual. You'll have to fork over $$ for the Dodge "Scat Pak" just to even have that option.

The SS with the whiz-bang suspension simply isn't worlds better at the track which is the ONLY place you could theoretically extract that supposed prowess.

The notion that a manual is better is also outdated. In general, automatics with paddles often shift faster than a human being can so having a manual isn't a huge score. Living with a manual in a vehicle like the SS is flat out silly.

But hey, if you think the SS is so wonderful go buy one. You'll be one of those unique people who pays full list while the car can't be given away with a 30% price reduction to sane people.
