Can Ford Give MINI A Run For The Money With a 200HP Fiesta ST?

The MINI's biggest asset is its instantly recognized "character." The Focus, though a good car (I rented one for a couple of weeks), looks pretty generic and doesn't have that recognition appeal, so it'll have a hard time displacing MINI.

Given how "darty" the Mini's platform still is, the Fiesta and Focus already equal and Mini dynamically. If you want panache, then the Fords lose.

Ford already beats Mini in terms of reliability. I swear Mini's were designed for self inflicted torture for anyone trying to do any type of self service in the motor bay. My mechanic refuses to work on Minis because you have to charge $$$$$$$ to cover your time and naturally customers only think they are getting shafted and they did -when they bought the pretty, chic car and not for the service. Mini is the car -no the repair bill!

I'm with you on this Tom. Matty is no expert when it comes to cars. He's a used car saleswoman for the 2nd/3rd tier car brands Hyundai, Kia and Ford and has no idea how to properly drive a Mini in order to get the most out of it.
