Porsche 928 to come in 2011
Porsche might develop a new "928" (we say might because there is nothing sure for now, just rumors) that might debut in 2011. The new model it is supposed to be a competitor for cars like BMW M6, Jaguar XK, Aston Martin DB9, Bentley Continental GT and Mercedes CL.

Since 1995, when the 928 GTS went out of production, Porsche didn’t have any other replacement for it. The new 928 will be inspired by the Panamera. The rear, off course will be inspired from the 911. It will be powered by a V8 engine or even a V10 might be under the hood of new 928.

No Porsche in recent memory has me more excited than the possibility of a new 928.

Please make it happen Porsche!

968 RS was a pretty damn cool car too!
Too bad it never made it to the U.S.
That 928 at the time had a AWESOME sounding V8!

I think Porsche should make a vehicle to compete with the Audi Q7, but a brand new shiny 928 would be nice too!

It's funny you say that, because the Q7, Cayenne and Touareg are on the same platform, as if you didn't realize that.

The Q7 is supposed to remain the only SUV on that platform that can hold seven passengers.

The car in the pic is freaking awesome! If the final production version looks like that then I'm sure they will sell plenty.

If Porsche does decide to make the 928 again it will fill a void in the automakers already impressive lineup. They certainly have their work cut out for them. The competition is very fierce these days, but Porsche has proven itself a worthy car company at almost every turn.

This photo is also in the November Car and Driver (Upfront section) with an even better shot of a rear 3/4 view. It does appear to be a photoshop.

If you want to see the Porsche 928 in a movie check out Risky Business with Tom Cruise and Rebecca Demornay.

That would be a nice addition to the Porsche line up. It is a change to the traditional 911 look that even Cayman possess. It looks stunning. They shouldn't wait till 2011 to make this. The sooner the better. Wow it's going against the luxury GT coupes. We'll see if Porsche can pull out some Luxury in it's race inspired brand.

FYI...

If you want to see the 928 in a BETTER movie, check out Tony Montana's car in Scarface.

Yeah, but he doesn't really drive it in scarface.

Tom Cruise has to escape Guido, The Killer Pimp!

"K pasa mein?" You see Tony peel out of the Babylon in the 928 after he gets set-up by the "Pig that don't fly staight," Frank...but I guess "Every dog has his day huh?"

Correct me if I'm wrong... those competitors they listed... aren't they competing with the 911? Seems like they are crowding the market too much... as well as their product line. I can't wait for a few years down the line so they can bring out a $20k Miata competitor!
