Although U.S. hybrid sales seem to have leveled off a bit recently, some argue that they will continue to grow as more models are introduced and the benefits become more clearly defined to consumers. But this creates a catch-22. If nobody introduces new product until hybrids take off and consumers are waiting for more options before taking the plunge, then there's no hope for progress. Nissan recently decided to jump into the fray with its 2007 Altima Hybrid, but Audi has taken a conservative approach. At least that's what Audi engineer Marius Lehna told Reuters. If the demand doesn't change, "it could become increasingly difficult to manufacture and sell hybrids in commercially sensible volumes," commented Lehna.

They have alway have said the Hybrid Q7 was for the US Market only. It is an extension of the hybrid concept they worked on several years back.

about two years ago porsche licenced hybrid technology from toyota to use in their own vehicles including VAG now you hear all of a sudden how it is the best because the headline says AUDI! SAD INDEED!

the hybrid Q7 concept came out the same month as the Q7 came out. I would see that car becuae the US wants that car. Hopefully the Germans will work togeather on the Bluetech and get it done soon.

Everyone just needs to just calm down. Audi is still bringing the 3.0TDI so put your fears to bed. The Q7 Hybrid concept was "hooked" up to a diesel engine if you remember. That should deliver the best of both worlds in terms of city and highway mileage. This may also allow Audi the chance to jumps some hurdles in California as well. In a nut shell, the diesels are for sure coming, the Hybrid may also but it's on a "lets wait and see what happens" kind of status.

Neverfollow, the Audi doesn't have a Mark Levinson audio system now it will fall short of the Lexus concert experience.

I did hear the Q7 comes standard with an 8 track and a map holder.
