VW announced Arteon pricing in Germany
Well, that didn’t take too long. Following its world debut a couple of days ago at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the Volkswagen Arteon is now available for ordering at home in Germany. Bear in mind Wolfsburg’s range-topping model can be had for the moment only with the strongest engines: the 2.0 TSI with 280 horsepower (206 kilowatts) and 350 Newton-meters (258 pound-feet) and the torquetastic biturbo 2.0 TDI with 240 hp (176 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft). Both of them are hooked up to a dual-clutch automatic transmission sending power to a 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.

Fitted with the gasoline engine, the sexy Arteon will set you back €49,325 before adding any optional goodies. The diesel is unsurprisingly more expensive and it begins from €51,600. So, how does it stack up against the “more humble” sedan?

Good luck selling it in the US at those prices...needs to be at or below 40k for the FWD model and 42k for the AWD model loaded to have a shot here. If they want to sell significant quantities they need to have less optioned models around 32-35K price range.

As long as VW continues to try to move Upscale - it will never really recover in the USA - where it is definitely NOT that. Those prices simply do not belong on a VW - which is entry level here in the USA.

The Arteon needs to replace the American Passat. Besides, it looks like a $23K car.

You can't compare Euro prices to what it might list for in the US. This should be priced in the same neighborhood as the CC.

Although the euro is worth more than the dollar, I have seen car sell here in X dollars vs X euro. I think this car could be successful in the $40,000 range, but at $50,000 plus I'd get the A6.

Top-trim price in the US cannot go much past $45k, otherwise it's going to encroach on A5 Sportback territory which is just idiotic.

Really.... 50,000 usd base price... DOA don't even bother bringing it to the USA.
Someone in Wolfsburg forgot to read the memo that VW is RECOVERING from a massive fraud, they are in no position to price their VW's like it is a Mercedes Benz.. I thought they gave up on the idea that VW was Mercedes Benz and Audi was BMW.. apparently not, so all the BS about the company has changed, well, the raid on their lawyers office today in Germany should tell us, business as usual.

$50k, NOPE!

What are you thinking VW, sell 40 in the U.S. and call it a day?

Drop the price to $32,000 for the "loaded" base and $38,000 - $42,000 with the 400hp turbo 2L with a Dual Clutch and maybe.

They need to ditch the dual clutch tranny. It's very trouble-prone and decidedly fragile.

If you must have a VW, lease it, but for the love of God do not buy it.
