New Study Indicates That Obama Mileage Requirements Would Have Only Added $500 To The Price Of a Car
The cost to implement tough fuel-efficiency standards for cars imposed by the Obama administration for the first half of the next decade could be up to 40 percent lower than previously estimated using existing conventional technologies, according to a report from a nonprofit group released on Wednesday.

If accurate, the report could present a challenge to automakers which have lobbied strongly against the implementation of the standards largely on the grounds of excessive cost.

If it was only $500 to double mileage the industry would have done it and simply charged customers for the long term savings.

Manufacturers don't always do what's best for the customer, of their own accord. Sometimes they'll do really stupid things, just to enhance their own bottom line. Wiki "Ford Pinto" for just one example.

Lets see what the brilliant Orange Pig Does Next...first he wanted Obama to let the American Auto Manufacturing Industry Die, which Obama refused to do standing against members of his own party...

Now trump wants to tout jobs he 'saved' of companies he originally would have let die, kind of like his casino in Atlantic City...

Oh and now he wants to make cuts to the EPA killing jobs, and American Innovation...Thanks Trump for "Making America Vulnerable Again"

$500-$1,000 dollars is well worth ensuring future generations breathe cleaner air and hold ourselves and auto manufacturers accountable for our carbon footprint

Dear BobM

The EPA has among the largest scientific publications database - all public data - at https://www.epa.gov/nscep. There you can find EPA publications - scientific research - trends of various polutions in the USA - among all the publications from 1976-today - and ALL are available free of charge - and clearly available to regular people - as well as the government. The claim that they have refused to supply their data supporting their environmental claims is Just another LIE. And in fact - They publish so many reports and data - that there are indeed times when reports are delayed simply due to the Volume of reports that must be posted - by a staff that was reduced already by 20% over the last 4 years. However - they do indeed provide them to the public.

YOU do have to be able to read - something that apparently your sources cannot do - since they can clearly support their statements with lots of data - and scientific studies. What is YOUR excuse? Anyone who actually checks the database would immediately know that these claims of yours are false - and it is easily accessed through the EPA website. Try it sometime - maybe you will learn that these conservative assholes you read - either cannot or don't actually read.

To some people, $500 is a whole lot of money. Plus, that $500 dollar estimate is what it would cost the manufacturer. Once it reaches retail, it will more likely be $800-1000 additional.
