Analyst Says Trump's Decision To Delay Fuel-Efficiency Standards Will Take A Back Seat To Consumer Demand
When President Donald Trump announced a review last week of tough Obama-era vehicle emissions and fuel-efficiency standards, he proclaimed that the "assault on the American auto industry is over."

But rules set by the EPA may take a backseat to consumers demanding vehicles that guzzle less gas and automakers having to meet tougher standards if they want to export cars overseas, according to auto industry analysts.

Liberals like hussein obamma were ready to outlaw air conditioning, track individual's driving and limit amount of permitted driving, greatly increase gas taxes, and place excess taxes on high performance vehicles.
So please don't tell us fairy tales about what delaying EPA mileage estimates will do.
The EPA is a notorious arm of the corrupt hussein obamma administration and routinely stepped on individual freedoms for the past 8 years of corruption and lawlessness. Pres. Trump is cleaning house and removing the corrupt, deceitful liberal gov't appointees and employess of the EPA to stop their malfeasance and disregard for the consititution and rights of American citizens.

Don't fool yourself. Corporate profits are the true motive for business. And there's nothing wrong with profit! I just see it as disingenuous (and transparent) when corporations and governments try to spin things as "we're doing this for you ? ? ?"

AS long as you understand that "YOU" means the stockholders - not the general public.

Reducing the emissions standards in the USA - which of course will not effect cars sold in California and 13 states that base their regulations on California - and most of Europe and some big parts of Asia - where their regulation are tighter than ours - will not change anything. Manufacturers are not going to produce dozens of different drivelines based on the US State where the car will be sold.

However - the current regulations did not actually mandate 50MPG - which was a misnomer. The actual regulations set Mileage based on the space between the wheels of cars and trucks - and remembering that the test is a lab test that results in high numbers - many cars already met the standard for their "Class". The problem was that they projected an overall number based on a MIX of different size classes of car/truck sales that turned out to be overly optimistic for smaller cars. Based on the current "mix" the actual overall number would have to be lower.

I have also mentioned about Land Rover adding a feature to its vehicles that can limit the speed of the vehicle based on posted speed limits - to remind us all that once Automated driving comes in - the ability to limit speeds - acceleration - turning speeds - etc - will probably be controlled by law - and the reason to buy expensive - sports vehicles will be reduced since they will also have to have the same limits. But - reducing congestion - and automated driving is certainly NOT going to reduce population- mrEE - every time you provide extra time to people - population goes UP - not down.

Old standard was a joke, full of loopholes. Ultimately the market determined the results and cheaper gas has set back the gains that could have been realized. All the recent poor mileage vehicles sold will be around for next 15-20 years. Now may be the time to put a major rebuilding of road infrastucture with the cost added to the fuel tax. Also to better enable the roads for automated driving, the next way to reduce congestion and resulting population.
