Audi Sport Quattro Confirmed Dead, New RS Models Coming
There’s bad news for anyone still holding out hope that Audi might bring the Sport Quattro concept to market because Audi Sport boss Stephan Winkelmann boss says the project is dead.

“It’s a nice dream,” Winkelmann told Car and Driver. “but I think we have so much in front of us that the most important thing is to get the lineup where we need it. I think there is the opportunity for a very limited car, but this is not my top priority at the moment.”

Sadly the march towards cars being an appliance continues. I will cherish my TTRS and R8V10 manual as the last of the Audi's that allow you the choice... They missed the point that a manual is FUN, justifying the lack of choice with the DCT's shift quicker! I'm not a race car driver that makes his living at it. Sports cars are about fun.

As much as I would like to completely blame the manufactures, a good portion of the blame has to go to the drone consumers who want the appliances.

DCT's are also fun. Manuals are cumbersome. You don't have to be a race driver to enjoy DCT. When I hear the 1 second plus of nothing in-between manual gear-shifts I chuckle. Clutch pedal is archaic, along the lines of "Points" and "Chokes". Not everyone needs a clutch pedal to have fun with a car.

The Germans seem to trying to outpace each other with more performance and more and more to the point that fun and value have flown out the window.I have to wonder what would happen if the Germans produced a coupe starting at $30K with a 6-cylinder engine and $35K with a V8. Jettison all the leather and wood crap. Jettison all the active driver assist BS and make a German pony car.

Fun with the Germans is definitely undervalued when all is said and done.

Correct Sir. I've had a Z4m and E92 M3 both manual. But the most city fun was a Mini Cooper 2 Seater and a tune and manual. Little car was silly fun. "It's not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog." As i posted I'll keep my TTRS and R8v10 manuals. Bmw lost my business when they dumped the wonderful S65 V8. They said it was to save gas, BS. the did it as the motors could be made off of the same production line rather than a separate lines for the high rev engines. Funny how Ford did the opposite for the wonderful coyote V8.
