2018 Audi A8: Here's A Good Idea Of What It Will Look Like
Audi is set to reveal its all-new A8 flagship luxury sedan on July 11. And not a moment too soon, considering that the current model is getting a little long in the proverbial tooth.

But while we wait for that to come around, here's a pretty good idea of what it will look like.

This latest rendering from Jan Peisert is based on the latest spy shots of prototypes for the forthcoming fourth-generation A8 undergoing testing. It also borrows stylistic elements from other Audi designs we've seen recently, including the Prologue Avant concept, the new SQ5 crossover, and the latest TT coupe.

that's so lame. I will look way better than that. Side profile looks like a Passat. New A5 and Q5 have a pronounced crease on the side that I can see part of this launch. This image is lacking anything distinctive.

The A8 is like the girl who shows up at the bar with her hot best friend(the s class) making her automatically irrelevant standing next to her hot friend...

I'm sorry A8, I'm sure there will be a few stragglers, weirdos, and cornballs left willing to buy you a drink after the revised S Class has first dibs on the room of prospects

The irony is that the revised S Class is nearly indistinguishable from the current one, but even still, the A8 in the image is a dud.

What's changed, except maybe a larger grille?

It sure doesn't say "luxury" to me :-( Or even "pretty". Just more of the same sharply creased, angular, trapezoidal stuff we've been seeing from Audi, and others, for a while.

It looks so......sad. Like in a "come on now, cheer up, everything will be okay" kind of way.

LOL. I don't think there can be a less inspiring design than that.

The A8 needed a styling revolution given how poorly it sells. This is is the genius of their head designer?? This is dull, derivative, and boring. Then again, Audi is a German Oldsmobile, so this makes sense.

All the Audi cars look TOO similar - and too derivative from the older models. WHile the LIGHTS will signify a newer car at night - otherwise - all Audi's look old from the moment they are released.

Gosh - are all the haters out today. What gives!! Here's a known news flash. MB cars ALL look alike Tom; ALL BMW cars look alike; ALL LEXUS vehicles look alike; ALL Nissan cars have the same; ALL Cadillac cars grill/headlight look alike. ALL car companies models have the same theme in all their cars. Just look at a front snap shot of all manufacturers cars/SUV. Also I find NOTHING beautiful about MB S-interior. Looks like crap with the loooooooong dash (Buick like) with a massive drive in movie screen. Come On - is this the best MB design teams had when they thought of this prestigious car.

Gkearns56 it's one thing to look like your current lineup of stablemates, it's another thing to look like your predecessors did generations ago...

The S Class, C Class, and E Class all take drastic departures from their predecessors with their grilles being the only thing that connects them

Poor gkearns. Going on a rant in an attempt to discount other brands without including even a single argument in favor of Audi only serves to prove that there is nothing defendable. This design rendering has ZERO merit and will not serve to advance the brand image.

Given that the prototypes running around look exactly like this, the render is probably pretty accurate.

I agree, it provokes conversation but it's a big waste of time really

Hey Chik-Fila - I was only making a general comment which is true, ALL auto makers have the SAME look in their line. They also have the same look in previous generations in their line-up. This isn't anything new. It doesn't bother me that car companies have their signature kidney grill, or MB the big emblem up front or Nissan's front light that look like the Nike swoosh. I've driven an Audi and my wife drives a MB SUV. I've previously own two 3-series and two 5-series (when they didn't weigh a bunch). Each person has their own preferences what appeals to them. Show me two current BMWs pictures that are drastically DIFFERENT from the same model year. They all have a same theme on their car line-up so the consumer just as well get use to it. Cadillac is the worst I think in the domestic brands. See those long angular lights up front and it's hard to discern their models.

No, gkearns (notice I don't resort to playground antics of calling you a different name), it's called deflection. When you can't find a truly good thing to say about something you love you look for the perceived negatives about something else. Or nowadays, it's called Trumpflection.

Looks about right for an Audi redesign, same blah
