Did The Detroit 3 Sway Trump From Cancelling NAFTA To Now Revising It
President Trump, who has called the North American Free Trade Agreement “the worst trade deal” ever signed by the United States, appears to have backed off his threat to abandon the deal and is instead proposing keeping major planks in place when he begins renegotiating it later this year.

Don't believe for a second that the US auto industry does not now, nor ever had, CONSIDERABLE influence on the US government, laws, etc. Remember the old saying, "What's good for General Motors is good for America." Many people still believe this.

The USA has never cut a trade deal that isn't tilted in its favour... They are the elephant in the room and always will be. Trump and his rhetoric are nothing new. I can't wait for the what will come out of his mouth about Canada once trade becomes his focus. 37 months and counting...down.

Most of us knew that once Trump actually got into office - that the things he promised were not going to be slam dunks with Congress - much less easy to do. ANd things that looked good initially would turn out not to be that way after looking into them. Att the same time - too many people made the mistake of believing that the republican parts in congress is ONE party that always votes together. John Boehner had to constantly fight with the tea-party people - and Ryan failed to get them onboard for the health insurance.
