I still think of GM (and friends) as a company whose products I'd avoid. I know this is just a symptom of some old programming in my head (plus a bankruptcy in recent years, plus callous disregard for honoring warranties of pre-bankruptcy-GM customers), but I've never been inspired to even visit a GM (and friends) website, let alone a showroom.

That aside, the exterior styling of this car looks pretty okay, but there's much more to a car than its looks alone. Interior design, fit and finish, apparent luxury, low defect numbers, lacks of squeaks and rattles, how the service shop treats its customers, resistance to rust, etc., are all things to consider when buying a new car.

1 - The Bankruptcy laws were not made for General Motors - they apply to all such proceedings - and then a NEW company is formed - it is NOT responsible for the debts (and warranties) of the preceeding company. Virtually EVERY air-carrier has gone through this numerous times - along with many of Donald Trumps properties - past and present. That is the purpose of Bankrupcy - and even individuals can wipe out their debts through this. That GM even did offer repairs for some cars that they were no longer responsible for was something they did not have to do.

2 - I was brought up with General Motors offering some of the best parts of cars - Rolls Royce and BMW used General Motors transmissions - and those two plus Mercedes once used GM Air Conditioner compressors - as well as GM alternators. My personal opinion is that GM was and is still the leader in Automatic Transmissions. As recent competitions have shown - GM has won more awards for their cars and I believe that real numbers would show that Chevy and Ford are not behind entry level vehicles from Toyota or VW for design - interior - and apparent Luxury. I have also always recommended to choose a local dealer - with an owner present - because they offer the best service to their customers - and even large conglomerate owned Toyota stores cannot compete with that.

The time to look at Chevy the way we once looked at early Japanese cars - has passed - they are actually very close to each on every count you mention. It reminds of when Lee Iaccoca complained about his Mitsubishi Eclipse based Dodge Sports car - made in the same factory and on the same assembly line - yet the Mitsubishi - at the time - scored much better on "initial complaints". The difference is not real - it is now perception - and will go away.

So, CX-9 front-end with Mercedes estate the remaining 3/4 along with an F-Pace rear fender bulge. Yes, it would look good, but certainly derivative and in production form it would probably look like an old Saturn SUV.

The illustration could not be more ridiculous if it tried. There are some really laughable perspective issues.

I'll give someone credit. It actually looks pretty good. Not overly done. Better than most garbage design you see on the road ( I don't mean Lexus, well actually I do ).

I think this is a really nice design for Buick and looks more youthful than the current Enclave and some of their other products.

Is that really a Mazda SUV?

Very sporting looking, but is this appropriate for Buick?? I thought old people drove Buicks? This is definitely not an old person's car, and I can't imagine younger people even thinking looking into buying a Buick because I know I wouldn't. Nonetheless, great design... might do better for GMC.

THere was a point in time in the 60's, 70's and 80's when Buick put together a string of highly desirable high performance vehicles - and it is a Buick powered vehicle that holds the single lap speed record at Indy as well. Add in that Buick had the first big win and the Indianapolis oval in 1909 and in between they had several really great concept cars - none of these are OLD FOLKS cars - unless your Grandma is from Pasadena.

It is not a real car. This image was made by some kid on Photoshop. You guys are bashing GM for an image that has nothing to do with the real car. The article should have been more clear about this. Oh, and to The Steve GM products are near the top of the CR incidence of repair. Toyota is not representative of the quality of all Japanese cars. I had a Nissan and it will be the only one I ever own.

Denali XT revisited?

OK. Maybe nothing like the XT concept. Would be a slick Buick though. Or maybe an unexpected Chevy...SS-X super sport SUV...in the vein of the short-lived Chevy SS super-sport sedan.
