STUD or DUD? Best Shot Yet Of The Upcoming Mid-Engine C8 Chevrolet Corvette
One of the worst kept secrets is that the next Chevrolet Corvette will be a mid-engine car. Adn the reason is because the current architecture has been taken as far as it can go.

Some good guess renderings have leaked so we wanted to ask if you like it and do you think it will be a huge success or will the move to mid-engine alienate and upset the Corvette traditionalists?

STUD! However if it raises the MSRP significantly over the current version Chevy would be smart to keep the C7 base versions around and add this as a "halo" Vette.

I'm inclined to think that Chevy will keep the front-engine platform around for a while longer. This rumored Zora would definitely be the halo however.

That 1st 3/4 view is pretty nice though. I'm hoping they keep the car length as short as physically possible. This would be worth $150k-$200k easy.

Making Corvette a BRAND should be the focus. GM needs the Zora, but abandoning the Stingray's market segment would be terrible. Corvette has about 2/3 the volume of the entire Porsche brand with just one, non-crossover model.

Note that the image is still in the "Wild Speculation" category, and not an actual design.

That said, I'm not crazy about the elongated Ferrari-like headlights or the kit-car rear end.

Aside from that:

(1) I have a deep respect for the 'Vette, as it is a world-class sports car that costs a whole lot less to buy and operate than the exotics, against which it competes.

(2) There's something special about the traditional (and current) front-engine rear-drive 'Vette configuration, and knowing that layout works so well for it. It's a sort of defining characteristic. My hope is that Chevy doesn't abandon that tried, true, and winning combination and heritage altogether. Add a mid-engine variant, but don't abandon what the 'Vette has always been... perhaps the definition of The American Sports Car.

It looks good but I expect the real thing to look even better than this speculation. I just hope the front end is a little more Vette and less Ferrari as shown in this.

Not sure why they feel they need to do this. The current car could be more refined. Z06 cars have been said to be 7/10 and more suspension tuning needed for solid track performance. If it does come it will be very high in price. As another poster said the current formula works. Why change it?

That's terrible looking.

I don't have any issues with it but it should absolutely have the round taillights we've come to expect on the Corvettes. Perhaps it could be more daring but it doesn't suck
