Venezuelan Authorities Illegally Seize General Motors Assembly Plant
General Motors said on Wednesday that Venezuelan authorities had illegally seized its plant in the industrial hub of Valencia and vowed to "take all legal actions" to defend its rights. The seizure comes amid a deepening economic crisis in leftist-led Venezuela that has already roiled many U.S. companies. "Yesterday, GMV's (General Motors Venezolana) plant was unexpectedly taken by the public authorities, preventing normal operations. In addition, other assets of the company, such as vehicles, have been illegally taken from its facilities," the company said in a statement. It said the seizure would cause irreparable damage to the company, its 2,678 workers, its 79 dealers and to its suppliers. Venezuela's Information Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for information

The plight of the people in the hands of a government that hates them should be an ample warning NEVER to vote for a Liberal-Socialist-Fascist-Progressive-Libertarian (different names for Democrats but the same immoral shit piles) candidate in the USA.

Why libertarian? That ALL we want is to live and let live. build stuff, and as long as we dont bother others dont bother us. You think Ron Paul in a beret would do this?

#Triggered #Idiot...cast the bait...wait for the fish to bite...

Nevertheless, Libertarians are just Democrats who don't want the low-rent taint of being called Democrats.

Sorry Matt - but your constant tirades against Liberal thinking ignores the fact that without it - your National Anthem would still be "God save the queen" and there would be NO voting - no elected officials - and no freedom of the press. (All Liberal ideas). Maybe you would prefer a country where the government tells you what car you can buy!

The fact is - the average American is neither totally conservative - nor totally liberal - they are centrists with the option of going either way depending on the subject. They ALL support their military - and virtually all think that billionaires should pay more taxes. In actuality - the Republicans and Democrats are not right or left - only small factions of either parts go there.

@TomM, you need to get back onto your meds. The dementia is getting worse.

Living in a country where the government tells you what car to buy is 1000% what Democrats want to do. They set CAFE higher and higher because they worship the secular religion of global warming and want to force people into the pod lifestyle of total submission.

Liberals did not free this country from England. Nice try at rewriting history. The Federalists marshaled later by Hamilton into a party were largely responsible for the notion of becoming a sovereign nation. The Federalists morphed into Republicans who ended slavery that your kind still loves to this day.

You are also wrong to say that all Americans are in the middle. NOPE! You are wrong to say that all Americans support the military because it is readily apparent that that all do.

Moreover, all Americans do not think billionaires should pay even more taxes. Some of us want flat tax (state and federal), no deductions/offsets/etc. where everyone would finally pay their fair share.

Now to this action by Venezuela

The fact is - this is a stupid move. There is no way an government takeover can end in anything but a complete closure and loss of ALL the jobs in the plant and supporting it. With "Just in Time" parts deliveries - they will run out of enough parts in DAYS that will stop production. One cannot expect GM to produce engines or transmissions much less other items for the government - much less the electrical systems that so computer dependent today. I would doubt that other companies would be interested in buying the disputed property to add to production that they currently cannot sell anyway due to the depressed economy based largely on OIL that will never recover to the high prices they based their economy on. THe plant will close - and all the jobs and supporting jobs will be lost.
