Audi Q7 gets 5 stars

Audi Q7 gets 5 stars
“Time and time again, Audi has demonstrated a strong commitment to safety.” said Johan de Nysschen, Executive Vice President of Audi of America, Inc. “We knew the Audi Q7 would be one of the safest SUVs available when we were developing it, and these test results confirm our position.”

Looks like Audi is covering all the bases these days (Safety, reliability, design, power, etc).

Kudos.

Reliability?? And what about their extremely low resale value?

Audi's are good, yet I have to wait on the reliability part.

I saw the Q7 in the flesh for the first time last night, and I must say, if I had 70k I'd be heading to the nearest Audi dealership. Here is a vehicle that pictures do not do justice!

I like the Q7 to some degree, but at times I can't ignore it's enormous size which causes it to look like a mini-van from some angles. In fact if I was to choose a certain Q7 mini-van lool-alike...It would be the Chevy Uplander.

The more & more I think about it, the less I like this truck. It's to heavy & big (the design would have looked more elegant had the truck been smaller), it's not very fast, & it lacks it's own individualistic interior design (seeing as they just fitted it with the A6 cabin).

Have you actually seen it?

I don't think you've seen it on the road.

It's unbelievable in certain colors, and commands great presence. But through all the times I have seen it, I would never call it "enourmous" or "mini-van lool-alike" as you said. It looks like a long, sleek SUV.

Will, you're thinking of the Q7 bodykit that was shown a few months ago, where people were making fun of it and saying it looked like a Converse.

I dont like this Audi, infact none of the big Germans have nice SUV's, the ML class, the new X5, this Q7, the porsche Cayenne, all are not really attractive..Although the ML63 is lovely...I think Range Rovers have always been nice..A nice combo of elegance, power and offroading capabilities..

Just for the record...I have seen the Q7 in person and will say it commands pressence, granted it's mini-van looks aren't as noticable on the road like they are in the pictures. The back of this truck however doesn't look good in pictures or on the road.

it is a lot more striking on the road, certainly.
stands out more than i thought.

I would give the Q7 10 stars, but I did see a very nice Mercedes R Class today parked at the California Pizza Kitchen in Irvine.

Please, please, PLEASE don't tell me you like the R-Class.

It's the ugliest German car of the 21st century, for sure. No matter how ugly some people think BMWs are. The R is nice on the inside, if a lot like the Mercedes SUVs, but it looks like a mutant Pacifica. It's actually much uglier than the Pacifica.

S4cabriofox, I do like the R Class, give it another look and you too will fall in love with the intricate lines of the R Class.

BTW, the R Class is selling really well here in Irvine,Ca.

I swear I feel like I am taking crazy pills....the Q7 looks more like a minivan than some of the new minivans!

Well you persuaded me for once Chewy...that is a HOT Q7. I hate to say it though, I still see that mini-van look a bit from the back.

Other than that...it's hot.

the Q7 looks just like the cayenne from the back i must say, and that is bad? i had a porsche owner say to me they wish they had looked at the Q7 cause they dont have enough room in the back and for those of us with kids, not thrid row (that fold down flat when not in use for a huge back )

AUDI Q7 is a POS as far as safety is concerned, it did not get 5 stars in the Euro NCAP crash test, see the link from Edmunds - http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=117055?imw=Y
Also see the link http://accident-audi-q7.skynetblogs.be/ regarding a real life accident of a Q7, this will give you nightmares if you own a Q7.

POS? it got 4 stars, not brilliant, but then again most of its rivals have 4 ncap stars. and it got 2/4 pedestria stars, which is the best score it its class.
lets see how the gl and new x5 stack up.

This is shocking news considering it's an Audi. The Volkswagen Jetta advertises on TV how it has a four star rating. That isn't something you want to advertise.

i just got my new 07 q7 3.6, it is the coolest vehicle i have ever owned/driven, every time i drive it people comment on how awesome it looks and it drives just like my A6 that i also love, everyone has their own opinion on what they like and don't that is fine, but this web site is soo full of people that justify that what ever they own must be the best, face it that is why we have so many choices and i am glad we do, and it is better that having what Ford created "any color as long as it is black." but for those of you who think any audi is unsafe, that is fine ill take my chances! also really read what the crash tests said, and audi would not put a pos out there...and the reason we looked in the first place is because it is a real full size suv, not like the wanna be X5 and others..

Its not a pretty one that Q7 imo, i like the X5 its smaller and much more masculine imo.

The old X5 got 5 stars rating in euroncap, The new Q7 4 stars!

the old x5 got 4 stars, then they fiddled with seat belt reminders and got 5.
2000-2003 x5s are 4 star rated, i belive.

Its a shame then that the Q7 only scored 4 out of 5 stars in the European NCAP assessment - something to do with faulty welds in the drivers footwell?? Clearly AUDI are maintaining there high build quality of this Slovakian built car??
