Oregon Man Fined And Threatened With Jail Time For Questioning Red Camera Timing - Sues State
A Swedish man living in Oregon has filed a lawsuit against the state's engineering board after receiving a $500 fine for questioning its traffic light timing.

In 2013, the wife of Mats Järlström received a ticket after driving through a red light but rather than simply paying the fine, Järlström decided to dig a little dipper and discover how yellow lights are timed in Oregon.

Järlström, a Swedish electrical engineer and former air force technician, began to speak out about how red light cameras misuse the mathematical formula for timing traffic lights.

This is just another example of how those in power oppress those who oppose them through financial avenues, which include expensive legal processes and prolonged legal battles (financial attrition).

Red-Light Camera abuse is well documented. Amber-light timing is deliberately shortened to force as many drivers as possible to run a red light, get their picture taken, and get their money. Regions operating red light cameras profit from them, sometimes getting as much as 60% of their budget from these devices’ revenue streams. So do the companies leasing these systems, who take a cut in the profits.

Stats also indicate that red light cameras do not reduce accidents, so it can’t be reasonably argued that they’re there for safety.

This is insidious :-(

BIG THUMBS UP for Mats. More people should investigate the facts behind government regulations rather than blindly accepting them on faith.

Always sue, especially the cops, who are mostly lowly educated thugs with a badge. (FBIs are mormons with a badge)

"Mormons with a badge"? I had no idea the Church of Latter Day Saints had infiltrated police departments across the country. Methinks you have a bit of an attitude. Just don't bother calling for a police officer when someone hits you and runs, or breaks into your car or home.

Traffic cameras are NOT about safety but 100% about revenue collection. Thus, they are a form of taxation. They are also taxation without representation.
