The Best-Selling Sports Car In 2016 was the Ford Mustang

The Ford Mustang is tallying its second year of being the world’s best-selling sports car. The Blue Oval delivered over 150,000 units of the pony car worldwide in 2016, including over 45,000 of them outside the U.S.

The ‘Stangs success is even more impressive when considering that 2016 is only the second year of Ford officially exporting the pony car to 140 markets worldwide. The company is adding six more soon, including Brazil, the Palau Islands, and the Ivory Coast.

Ford made a MISTAKE dropping the 3.7 V6 for 2018. For us it outsold the Ecoboost. The V6 was a LOT more tractable than the turbo 4. The V6 was a bargain and then some. Base V6 Mustangs were harder to keep in stock.

Rarely do I agree with you MDarringer, but you hit the nail on the head. The 3.7 is a fine engine smooth powerful and torquey. Huge mistake for Ford to remove it from the Mustang.

The V6 Mustang with the automatic paddle transmission will easily spank a GT86 at the track and that includes through the corners. The GT86 just can't maintain the speed through the corners that the rental queen can do. Now factor in that it's $6-7K less expensive and far faster.
